Goals
Regentco's brief was to create a website and CMS solution which allowed them to manage their considerable inventory of jewellery findings; both in terms of display on the website and in the production of a customisable print catalogue which could be printed from the site, complete with prices. With their main client’s being jewellers, showcasing the products that Regentco sell was of paramount importance.
Approach
In our discussions with Regentco, we realised that the level of inventory and the various variations of similar stock meant a robust database needed to be created.
Regentco requested that they have control over whether uploaded products be visible on the website and/or in a printed catalogue, thus we undertook to create a system which dynamically created web and printed (PDF) pages and which would be robust enough to be used for years to come with little need to update the back, or front end.
Results
A key design parameter was the integration of the PDF creation functionality, allowing Regentco to generate either a high resolution or low resolution catalogue on demand.
The system was engineered to create PDF pages which were dynamically created to include those products the client wished to showcase as well as appending personalised cover and appendix pages.
Furthermore, the client has the ability to upload and append price data to each product, further enhancing the value of the PDF to their end users.
